Practice Area

The practice covers central Farnham and Lower Bourne as well as the outlying areas of Wrecclesham, Boundstone, Churt, Rowledge, Dockenfield, Frensham, Tilford, The Sands and Seale. The practice also covers part of the Aldershot area.

Home Visits

We ask that home visits are requested only for those patients who are too ill or infirm to come to the surgery. If you feel a visit is necessary please telephone the surgery before 10.00am when you will be able to speak to one of the doctors before a visit is arranged. EMERGENCIES WILL BE ATTENDED TO IMMEDIATELY.

Emergencies

Outside of our normal hours and at weekends calls are taken by ThamesDoc out-of-hours co-operative, which is operated by local GP's (020 8390 9991). If they cannot deal with your problem over the phone you may be asked to attend one of the base surgeries in Farnham, Guildford or Haslemere.

If you require advice you can also contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647. This is a 24-hour, nurse-led confidential helpline providing information and medical advice.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is observed by all members of the practice at all times. All patient consultations and records are confidential and all staff members are trained in confidentiality.

The practice is fully registered under the Data Protection Act. Information contained in your medical records is kept confidential at all times and only disclosed to others for purposes related to your healthcare (except where you have given permission).

However there may be occasions when information may be used for audits and preparing statistics on performance and activity (in which case steps are taken to ensure patients are not identified). If you would prefer for your information not to be used in this way, please notify the Practice Manager.

Complaints Procedure

We endeavour to provide the best possible care for our patients at all times, but there may be occasions when you feel the need to express your dissatisfaction. If you wish to make a complaint about the service you have received from any member of our practice, please contact the Practice Manager (Amanda Jones) by telephone in the first instance and you will be advised how the problem will be dealt with.

We hope that most matters can be dealt with and solved as quickly and easily as possible, but all complaints will be fully investigated. We are also happy to hear positive comments about our services and patients are welcome to make suggestions on improving our service to you. Please either write to the Practice Manager or speak to the receptionist.

GP Training

This practice has been accredited as being suitable for the training of those doctors intending to become General Practitioners. This means that the Practice and Doctors have had to achieve a number of standards which have been assessed by the GP Deanery for Kent, Surrey and Sussex, acting on behalf of the national organisation (the Joint Committee for Postgraduate Training in General Practice).

These are some points for your information: Those doctors training to become GP's are called GP Registrars. The GP Registrar is a fully qualified doctor, who is likely to have a lot of experience in hospital medicine If you are seeing this doctor, you can expect to receive the quality of service you would from your own GP. If you have any concerns, please mention this to a member of staff.

Sometimes it may be necessary for the GP Registrars to video record their consultations as part of their training, and in this case your permission will always be requested beforehand. The practice is also involved in the training of medical students and you may be asked if a medical student can sit in at your consultation.

We also host “Foundation Year 2” doctors on four-month attachments from St George’s Hospital Medical School who are qualified to see patients in their own right and again you can expect the same quality of service as from your GP. This increases our appointment availability and enhances our ability to care for our patients.
